Love this movie! 10/10. We were in an excellent theater expecting to really enjoy this movie. It's extremely stupid. One example. guy's buddy just got killed. He starts dragging his body to no where and while he's doing it a few guys magically walk up. It's quiet. No wind. No explosions. Very quiet. This guy just say his buddy die. He doesn't hear several guys approach? It gets better. 50 yards away we find an entire convoy of truck built in 1916 has magically driven up. They must be running a cloaking device right?
The guy that dies is 50 lbs overweight in a time where there is very little food.
The German position has bags of rotten food. They are obviously starving. Eating garbage. Then our hero's walk out the back of the Germany's position and find that the Germans have killed a bunch of cows. They are fresh. You are starving but within 100 yards is a bunch of cows.
If you make it to the sniper shooting at the remaining hero you will reach the point where I gave up. Talk about magic bullets.
Hollywood. how can you assume we are so stupid as to watch your junk.
This movie is worse than The Revanant.

This movie is dull and extraordinarily disappointing. Maybe my expectations were too high. Deakins cinematography is the only reason this film is somewhat watchable. I can't fathom what awards season saw in this. Academy Awards once again has proven to be about releasing your film in December, regardless of its quality. This movie is not worthy of the accolades it is receiving. The main character stumbles into the end result the same way he stumbled through every challenge in this film. The most compelling characters are the A-listers that sneak themselves in and command every scene away from our protagonist. Highly disappointed in making time to see this in theaters.

This film reminds me of Tom Hank's Saving Private Ryan, just the concept of completing a task to save your people, before it's too late. Terrible use of CGI. Just overkill. Nothing looks real. To me this was the best scene I have seen in a long time. From the score to the cinematography, this is master class film making.
